When I first arrived at Tokyo station three months ago, I was truly and completely exhausted. The station was full of people and the trains were so crowded. Also, living spaces are very small and Japanese people work so hard from early morning to late night. I was born and brought up in a small and quiet town in France, so I was very shocked by the energetic Tokyo city.
However, after studying at ARC for 3 months, my Japanese has improved and I can communicate in Japanese and I begin to understand the good quality of Japan. More than anything, Japanese people have very good manners. Even though they are proud of their culture, they are modest in behavior and do not have exclusive attitudes like Westerners often do. Moreover, although the city is packed with people but it is safe at night, and I really think that Tokyo is a city which is very easy to live. Now, I want to live in Japan forever. It would be great if I can work for a job to connect Japan and France
I think ARC is a perfect
place for a Westerner like me. There are staffs and teachers who can speak various languages including
English, so I live everyday without any worry. On the other hand, we do not use any language other
than Japanese in the class, so although it is difficult, the improvement is very fast.
Oh, yes. I might have said that Japan is a crowded and busy country. However, if you travel away from Tokyo, you will find beautiful scenery in each of the places you go. Last week I traveled to Shikoku, the atmospheric townscape and the nature were both wonderful. The food was also very delicious!
