Ikebukuro school
Why do you study Japanese?
The reasons will probably vary infinitely for each and every one of the students. If there are student who are enrolled in the study course with the goal to pursue higher study in Japanese universities, there will also be people who have to come to Japan because his/her spouse came here for work, and would need Japanese language required for everyday life here. There are also varieties of nationality, age and work background. I like to tread in the needs for Japanese language of each individual student. I would find out what they want to learn then look for and prepare the materials to teach. I have to prepare totally different lessons depending on different students, classes and campuses. This process is a very creative process. There is not one ARC teacher who keeps doing the same lesson all the time.
Ikebukuro school is
located in a place where there are many people from other countries, so we put special efforts into "Japanese
language for ordinary citizen" here. According to what I said about "needs" earlier,
it's not just teaching in the class, but also educating the students in the way that will support their
lives in Japan. Teachers and students need to share the information about what kind of problem the
students may have, and design the flexible lessons in order to solve problem.
We also put in a lot of effort into Japanese language education for job-hunting. They are not only people who want to work immediately, but also who teach Japanese now but want to find a job which uses their specialty in the future.
